| Sun 3 Jun | Lost | by 84 runs away to Letcombe Despite restricting Letcombe to an achievable target of 186 for 7 with a lively performance in the field, Whitchurch struggled with the bat against Letcombe's opening bowlers. Dave Hill was left stranded on 49* at the end with Whitchurch finishing on 102 all out.. |
| Wed 06 Jun | Won | by 30 runs (tbc) away to Pangbourne in the first 20/20 fixture of the season. Whitchurch batted first, making 153. Pangbourne's reply totalled 120 (tbc). Harry Williams named man of the match by skipper Cormac for his 25* and bowling as tight as a very tight thing taking 3 for 14. |
| Sat 9 Jun | Lost | by 7 wickets at home to Hetairoi Whitchurch put up a decent total of 176, with Tim Close getting his first 50 of the season. Unfortunately, Hetairol's batting proved too strong, making the target with 7 wickets to spare. |
| Sun 10 Jun | Won | by 43 runs at home to Goring Whitchurch made 184 for 8 in our 35 overs with good runs down the order from Grogie and Travis in his first game of the season. Goring struggled until a last wicket partnership of 50-odd had us worried. Whitchurch eventually broke the partnership to limit Goring to 141 all out. |
| Sat 16 Jun | No Play | at home to West Wycombe Match called off due to weather. |
| Sun 17 Jun | Lost | by 82 runs away at Aldermaston Despite Lyn Williams taking his first 5-fer (5 for 51), Aldermaston made 174 for 9 off 40 overs. Whitchurch's batting then struggled to 92 all out in 35.2 overs... with Raja taking 8 Whitchurch wickets for 16. |
| Wed 20 Jun | Won | by 10 runs away to Boar's Head Ardington in the second 20/20 game of the season. Whitchurch made 125, and then limited Ardington to 115 despite man-of-the-match Pete Shufflebotham's 50 not-out. |

| Sat 30 Jun | No Play | BBC Caversham |
| Sun 1 Jul | No Play | Jack Frost |
| Tue 3 Jul | 14:30 | Old Merchant Taylors |
| Sun 8 Jul | Lost | by 4 wickets away at East Haddon On British Grand Prix day the Red Arrows flying over nearby Silverstone should have been a good omen for Whitchurchs midlands tour game. Whitchurch won the toss and chose to bat first on a good hard wicket. We had a good start against the quick but erratic openers, with Harry and Musab providing a solid base before we lost a series of quick wickets. East Haddon's impressive Loughborough University spinner caused the most trouble and slowed our scoring rate to a crawl. Then Jimbo's 58* and Grogie pushed on with an 8th wicket stand of around 90. Whitchurch finished on 178 for 8. East Haddon's reply started steadily and provided a good base. Their no.3 was dropped on 48, before going on to make 123* to see East Haddon home by 4 wickets with overs to spare. Fantastic food followed and the brave in the party stayed that night and got wasted before Golf at Mentmore on Monday. |
| Wed 11 Jul | Won | by 18 runs at home to Pangbourne Whitchurch again beat Pangbourne in the return 20/20 fixture at Eastfield Lane. Whitchurch made 117 for 9, with Duncan Reeve making 31* after retiring first time round on 26. Pangbourne got off to a flying start but the Whitchurch bowling attack and some improved fielding kept their total down to 99 all out. Duncan Reeve completed a fine evening's cricket with 4 wickets. |
| Sat 14 Jul | 13:30 | Harpsden |
| Sun 15 Jul | Lost | by 5 wickets at home to Boar's Head Ardington In a rain-reduced game of 24 overs a side, Whitchurch made 156 for 1 with Harry Williams making 76* and Dave Hill 62. Chris Grogan took 3 for 14 but Ardington made the required runs with 5 wickets remaining. |
| Sat 21 Jul | No Play | BBC Caversham |
| Sat 28 Jul | Won | by 19 runs on tour at Les Ormes Unlike last year, we had a glorious day for cricket in France. Just like last year, however, half the team were still on the road when the openers walked out. Whitchurch made 233 for 4, thanks to Rusty's 100* supported by G's 40 and Duncs' 33*. Mike Scanlon made 114 to get Les Ormes close, but Whitchurch won it in the last over, keeping them to 214 for 6. More here |
| Sun 29 Jul | Lost | by 8 wickets on tour at Les Ormes Conditions resembled a rainy April day in Whitchurch, with the rain ranging from just heavy to torrential. Whitchurch batted first with several long interruptions, reducing the game to 30 overs, to struggle to 96 all out, somewhat short of the Grogan 10-an-over benchmark. In (slightly) improving conditions, Les Ormes then chased down the runs, losing just 2 wickets to win the Scanners Cup. More here |
| Sat 4 Aug | Won | by 2 runs at home to Waxlow In a rain-shortened 30 over game, Whitchurch made 144 for 7, with Duncs making 49 and Lyn 31. Waxlow fell just short in their chase, with Chris Russell returning the best bowling figures at 3 for 26 off 6 overs. |
| Sun 12 Aug | Won | by 1 run away at Blewbury Whitchurch made 164 all out in 34.4 overs, with Travis making a 50. Blewbury were then 163 all out with Travis taking a catch off the last ball to secure the win. |
| Sat 18 Aug | No Play | Hambleden |
| Sun 26 Aug | Lost | to East Haddon |
| Mon 27 Aug | 10:30 | Harpsden Sixes |
| Sat 1 Sep | Draw | away at Grey's Green Grey's Green batted first, scoring slowly at first thanks to good bowling from Harry and Robbie C in particular. We didn't take enough wickets, however, so with 8 wickets in hand Grey's Green accelerated to make a competitive 178 for 2. After a shaky start, Whitchurch's reply improved (largely thanks to Robbie C's 42) to give us real hope of the win. A late fall of wickets meant that Craig Hampton and Robbie Lowden hung on in the last overs to secure the draw. Man of the Match was Robbie C for his batting and bowling. |
| Sat 8 Sep | Won | by 71 runs at home to Hambleden. Batting first, Whitchurch put on 230 for 5 in 35 overs, with opener Cormac hitting 53 and Tim Close hitting 72, largely over the fence and into the nettles. Excellent bowling and fielding, starting with Robbie C and Lyn Williams' fierce opening spell put Whitchurch in control early on. |
| Sat 15 Sep | Lost | by 1 wicket at home to the President's XI The President's XI beat Whitchurch in the last over of a tight and exciting game. Whitchurch batted first and made 207, with Ronnie Khan's 50 and some fine late order hitting by Lyn Williams. The President's XI started well but Whitchurch clawed their way back into it with some excellent bowling by Chris Russell in particular. The President's XI were guided home in the last over by Tom Whitelock in a nail-biting finish. The evening was rounded off with a Barbie and drinks at the ground and then the pub. |
| Sun 23 Sep | Lost | by 93 runs at home to Britwell Salome Whitchurch made an excellent start, bowling and fielding consistently well to limit Britwell Salome to 165 all out in 34 overs. Harry Williams took 3 for 42. Unfortunately there wasn't much excellence with the bat demonstrated by Whitchurch, with 5 ducks in the scorebook. Harry Williams was an honourable exception, making 35 of Whitchurch's total 72 all out in 17 overs. |

Valiant Rearguard Action
Whitchurch draw vs Stonor
Captain's Report: Drowning men found close to Thames
Whitchurch clung on like a drowning man to a straw as they scraped a draw on Saturday. Stonor posted 253, with one of the openers scoring 120+, despite being dropped on 20 (Don't worry Lewis, Brian Lara scored 500 after he was dropped once). However a strong rearguard action from Craig Hampton and Dominic Motha saw us home.
Catches Win Matches
Whitchurch win away against United Oxford Hospitals CC
Captain's Report: 3 good catches from Mark, Lewis and Jon for Whitchurch wasn't matched by United Oxford Hospitals who proceeded to drop the Whitchurch skipper at regular intervals, allowing him to score 58. 3 wickets each for Mark and Nick, and an excellent spell of bowling by Andrew bowled UOH out for 162. Runs for Jack, Nick, Lewis and 'the lucky one' ensured that Whitchurch eventually ran out the victors by 4 wickets.
Boat Race Glory
Captain's Report: Williams L, Mutepfa, Charlton, Crist, Haggerty, Kilford A, and Steward Win Back Boat Race Title.
If only they could play cricket with the same aplomb that they can drink!! A 30-over game straddling the football saw Whitchurch run up 162 for 9 with Jack G back from his exams and back in the runs, and Hicksey brilliantly protecting his average. In reply Jack Frost recovered well from 85 for 5 to eventually win by 2 wickets with 3 overs in hand. And another catch for the boy wonder: that's 2 for the season and counting.
Sunday Best?
A victorious Whitchurch side.

Captain's Report: Everybody remembers their first !!
Whitchurch were led to victory at Checkendon on Sunday by Matt Kilford taking his first catch for the Club at the tender age of 11. Notable contributions from Andy, Lyn and Alan (proud father) with the ball ensured that Checkendon were bowled out for 139 at tea. After tea Robbie, Andrew and Nick made sure that the score kept ticking over despite the loss of a few wickets; Whitchurch eventually winning by 4 wickets with 8 overs in hand.
Headcase Skipper
Nepotists win
Captain's Report: A&E waiting times improving in Reading. Whitchurch bowled and fielded brilliantly before tea to restrict Nepotists to 160 for 8. How well we did, or didn't, bat after tea in being bowled out for 84 is a complete blank: having my head stitched back together by Zia (the very nice nurse) in A&E at the time. If Whitchurch could have batted for the same length of time I was in A&E – 3hrs 2mins – we would have won easily.
Pea Shelling
Whitchurch lose to Star 2009
Captain's Report: New Pea-Shelling Plant Opens in Whitchurch.
The Whitchurch team put their recent intensive training in pea-shelling to good use on Saturday by dropping 7 catches, which allowed Star to amass 231 runs in their innings.
Whitchurch made a good fist of a response with Closey and Duncan in particular putting in fine batting performances. However the run rate proved to much for the lower order and we were all out for 180.
10 Significant Figures
Whitchurch beat Goring
Captain's Report: Caught and bowled surprise – one very sharp and one relatively easy caught and bowled chance by Andy and Alan respectively – they never do that off my bowling!! - restricted Goring to 169 for 6. After tea, and without the usual alarms, Whitchurch chased the score down for the loss of only four wickets and with 8 overs to spare. More runs for Andrew, who says his average is now 134.3426759 – not that he's counting.
Bright Future
Whitchurch beat Hetaroi
Captain's Report: Congratulations to Lewis Crawleygay on scoring a 50 in his first game of cricket ever! Put Whitchurch on track for a good win against Hetaroi, who scored 180 in their innings, and Whitchurch even managed a customary mini collapse to make things a bit more interesting. Congrats also to Duncan on 5 for 31 off 11 overs. A fine spell of dibbley-dobbley bowling.
